The 203 Project was a showhouse in Darien CT based on sustainability and bringing the community together to update the Darien Community Association. My inspiration for the space was sparked when asked to design the Garden Reception, which doubles as the venue’s secondary entrance. After being informed that the DCA has a garden club and an original greenhouse on the property, I was immediately inspired to create my dream: a livable greenhouse. Drawing inspiration from Ballyfin Demesne in Ireland and the conservatory at the Biltmore Estate in NC I ran with the idea! While keeping sustainability in mind; every design choice was intentional. We reupholstered a found sofa and chair, reimagined doors that were originally a part of builtins in the DCA library to make window room dividers, reused two lanterns in the coat area, and sourced accessories from the DCA Thrift Store. The 60” round table is an original design and we had a local craftsman, Barry Joseph Fine Furnishings, craft from reclaimed barn wood. Our signature candle vessels also double as a rocks glass and can be repurposed to enjoy your favorite signature cocktail!
