Stepping into the 1870s Victorian home for the first time was a memorable experience. As I walked through the elegant spaces with the client, the dining room's Zuber wallpaper immediately caught my attention. I lightheartedly mentioned that removing it would mean I wouldn't take on the project, a reflection of my appreciation for the home’s character. This Victorian house is a dream project, with features that evoke its rich history. The previous owner maintained the property impeccably, preserving stunning details that we embraced in our design, such as hand-laid intricate parquet floors in the living room, a striking solid Dutch door in the foyer, original hinges on numerous doors, stained glass in the piano room, and beautiful plaster ceiling details and moldings. We designed the space to honor the past but create a contemporary-traditional juxtaposition of furnishings and color palate that have brought this home into the 2020’s.
